Step 1: Connect your Ledger device to the Ledger Live using a secure and stable USB cable.
Step 2: Open ‘Manager’ within the menubar, and in the search box type ‘Recovery check’, as in the image below.
Step 3: Install the app by clicking ’Install’. An installation window appears, your device will display Processing, and once this completes you will find the app successfully installed on your Ledger device.
Step 4: Open the ‘Recovery check app’ on Ledger by pressing both buttons.
Step 5: Press the right button to choose the length of your recovery phrase (12, 18 or 24 words). Then press both buttons to confirm.
Step 6: Choose the first letter of Word #1 by pressing the right or left button. Press both buttons to select the letter.
Step 7: Select the second letter of Word #1. Repeat until the device shows suggested words to choose from.
Step 8: Choose Word #1 from the suggested words. Press both buttons to select it.
Step 9: Repeat the process for each word of your recovery phrase.
Step 10: Phrase is correct will be displayed if you’ve correctly saved your recovery phrase.
Finally, use the Manager to uninstall the app. The app is particularly big and there is no use in keeping it on your device once your recovery phrase has been checked.

- Verify that the order of the words entered on the device matches the order written on your Recovery sheet.
